Job Description Summary:The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine is seeking a Post-doctoral Scientist. The research mission of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine is to conduct basic and translational research at the highest scientific level. Our faculty members are dedicated to searching for path-breaking scientific discoveries in the areas of cellular and molecular biochemistry through our signature research programs in cancer, hepatobiology, autism and disease centered computational genomics. 
 
The successful candidate will work under the direct supervision of Dr. Ed Seto. The research focuses on understanding the function of HDAC10 and HDAC11 in cancer biology. The Post Doctoral Scientist will work with cell cultures and mouse animal models. This position is primarily a temporary/training position in which the incumbent plays a substantive role in planning and conducting research by designing and conducting experiments in a controlled laboratory setting. In collaboration with the Principal Investigator, the Post-doctoral Scientist will participate in the planning of independent research, analyze and interpret data, publish results, attend conferences and meetings, and develop new theories and methodologies. The position may also involve leading and directing the work of lower level research staff. 
 
Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Minimum Qualifications:Qualified candidates will hold a Doctoral degree in a related discipline. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position.
Additional Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications:
Preferred Qualifications:Experience in initiating, conducting, evaluating and reporting of research studies is preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated working knowledge of research methodologies in applied research.
Typical Hiring Range$53,840.04 – $69,333.11
