Position Description Summary:The Department of American Studies at George Washington University seeks applications to fill a tenure-track position in African American Studies at the rank of assistant professor beginning in Fall 2022. We welcome all areas of specialization and methodological approach, including especially the study of the environment (built and/or natural), the digital humanities, global Blackness and/or Blackness in Diaspora, queer of color critique, and political economy.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:Responsibilities include maintaining a robust research and publishing agenda, teaching undergraduate and graduate students in core American Studies courses and in their own areas of research, and service work in the Department.
Minimum Qualifications:Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in American Studies or a related field by date of appointment, and have teaching experience and research potential/experience, as demonstrated by works in progress or scholarly publications.
