The University Animal Hospital (UDS) is SLU’s resource for clinical research and education, and Sweden’s only veterinary teaching hospital. Within UDS, both veterinary students, veterinarians and veterinary nurses are trained and clinical research carried out. UDS has about 200 employees who provide qualified veterinary care around the clock all year round for cats, dogs, small pets and horses. UDS also has an outpatient training clinic with veterinarians who go out to stables and farms.
The small animal clinic has approximately 120 employees, and every year we welcome more than 20000 patients. You would be joining a fantastic team of colleagues and support staff which care for one another and have fun together. Role:
We are looking for a veterinarian with extensive experience in anaesthesia. Your main role will be clinical work within anaesthesia and analgesia in the small animal and equine clinics at the university veterinary hospital. You are expected to be involved in the out of hours/back up service.
In your daily work you are expected to be involved in clinical teaching of veterinary students, veterinary nurse students and if appropriate interns and residents. You are also expected to be involved in ongoing clinical research. You will give support to veterinary nurses that are studying for a masters in anaesthesia. You will be working closely with colleagues in your subject within the faculty. You may also be involved in lecturing, small group teaching, and assessment of vet students.
An important part of your work is to provide advice to and cooperate with vets in other disciplines at the hospital, such as intensive care and in-patient clinic. Consultations with vets in general and in particularly referral vets are expected.
Qualifications:
You have qualifications as a veterinarian from a recognized university in Sweden or another EH/EES country or Switzerland. You have extensive documented experience and/or further training within anaesthesia. A Diplomate in anaesthesia from the European College of Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia (ECVAA) or the American College of Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia (ACVAA) is very meritorious. Completed resident education (ECVAA or ACVAA) is meritorious.
You are expected to be proficient in a Scandinavian language and/or English to cooperate with pet owners, students and colleagues.
Interest in high-quality veterinary care and education of students and colleagues both at UDS and faculty are important qualities for the position.
