Here you will be part of a diverse team which uses professional approaches and perspectives to drive innovative results.

As our new professor you will be at the forefront of strengthening the department’s teaching and research activities in Industrial Statistics and Data Analysis, and incorporating modern computer-intensive methods. You will particularly be able to focus on interaction with and the strengthening of Danish Industry, based on a strong collaboration involving researchers at DTU and domain knowledge collaborators from DTU and from industry. Campus-wide collaboration based on strong connections with national and international research institutions as well as with industry comes natural to you, and you highly appreciate the close professional relations that drive your desire to produce new research, be innovative, and perform the best possible teaching.

Responsibilities and qualifications
Through your commitment, you will advance the research field of Industrial Statistics and Data Analysis and be a driver in developing the field’s education at all levels, as well as engage in broad research collaborations including industrial partners.

Your main tasks will be:

  • Research, teaching, and innovation within optimal collection and analysis of data from industrial processes, and manufacturing including in-line measurements of such processes.
  • To develop solutions to translational activities to help solve e.g. bias issues in so-called Big Data.
  • To promote industrial statistics and data analysis activities at DTU Compute. At DTU there are notable collaboration possibilities in most of the domain-oriented departments, as well as a yet-uncovered need that you will explore and develop into strong and close collaborations.
  • To develop tools aimed at facilitating user-friendly interfaces to the complicated methods that often arise when analysis is performed correctly.

You have a good track record of securing funding, and you are eager to put that experience to use to secure further funding of our activities within industrial statistics and data analysis. Similarly, you are an experienced teacher and familiar with continuing education, scientific advice, including consultancy at a national and an international level, and will contribute to the section’s activities.

As a professor, you will also be a research leader. This requires an interest and willingness to lead administrative tasks both at departmental level and in the section, and you know the importance of acting as a role model and contributing to a well-run section on behalf of your head of section.

The general qualification requirements for the position are a high level of original scientific production at an international level with documented contributions to the development of industrial statistics and data analysis. Further qualifications are teaching experience at the BSc and MSc levels. Further, there is a growing focus on continuing education activities.

It is assumed that you have a strong research track record within one or more of the following topics:

  • Quality control and assessment
  • Statistical design of industrial experiments
  • Analysis of time series data

Furthermore, it is expected that you have experience in collaboration in an industrial setting.

You are expected to take a lead role in teaching at the BEng, BSc, MSc, and PhD levels. You will be expected to learn Danish and be able to teach in Danish after 3 years. DTU can provide Danish language courses.

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The salary for the position will be determined by the applicant’s qualifications and in agreement with the relevant union.
