We hereby invite top-class researchers of any nationality, who have a PhD degree and maximum eight years of research experience after having obtained their PhD degree, to apply for the EU-funded Marie Skłodowska Curie Action Postdoctoral Fellowship (call HORIZON-MSCA-PF-2022) to conduct research at University of Oslo for a period of two years.

The University of Oslo is Norway’s oldest university, the highest ranked institution of education and research in Norway – and one of the World’s Top 100 universities. The successful MSCA PF will be a part of the Institute of Clinical Dentistry at University of Oslo (https://www.odont.uio.no/iko/english/) an interdisciplinary Institute covering high impact research on a broad range of topics. The Institute consists of ten departments and offers study programmes on all levels, including PhD.

Area of research

Four supervisors will be available to be matched with the successful candidates according to the relevance of their research topics.

The main purpose of the fellowship is to qualify researchers for work in higher academic positions within their disciplines.

Expected qualification of applicants

Candidates must be eligible for a MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowship: have a PhD successfully defended by the deadline of the MSCA-PF call (14 September 2022), a maximum of  eight years research experience after PhD, and not having worked/studied in Norway more than 12 months in the last three years.

Applicants must have a strong publication record corresponding to their research experience and provide evidence of independence, a clear idea of what you will achieve during your fellowship and a reflexive understanding of your career development needs. Candidates will be expected to co-create their proposal with their host supervisor.

We are looking for applicants who have:

  • Knowledge of relevant topics
  • Solid background in qualitative and/or quantitative methods.
  • An excellent track record in research and publications, necessary for being able to develop a competitive Marie Curie Fellowship application
  • An open and cooperation-oriented nature, with strong abilities for independent academic work
  • Excellent command / highly proficient spoken and written English

Assessment and selection of candidates

With this call for expression of interest, we invite researchers to submit their application accompanied by CV (including publication list), documentation of PhD qualification and a one-page project description that will be the basis for selecting candidates with whom we will collaborate for developing competitive MSCA-PF proposals. The cooperation for the proposal development will be carried out remotely, with regular online communication via email and virtual meeting platforms. Applicants, who are successful in getting their proposals funded by the EU, must relocate to work at the University of Oslo, Institute of Clinical Dentistry in Oslo.

Short-listed candidates will be invited for a virtual interview to select candidates that will be invited to develop the full MSCA-PF application with deadline on 14 September 2022 under the supervision of selected topic’s mentor with the support of professional research support staff at University of Oslo. Successful applicants who obtain a MSCA-PF grant will be offered a position at University of Oslo to be hired as postdoctoral researchers, in conditions as explained below.

The competitive Fellowship opportunities are 100% funded and include living and mobility allowances.

  • Salary: approx 60.000 EURO/year

The EU shall inform the results on the MSCA-PF-2022 applications in February 2023.
Successful applicants are expected to be available to start the fellowship project from within the two months following the announcement of results and no later than August 30th 2023.

  • CV (summarizing education, positions, pedagogical experience and other qualifying activity)
  • copies of educational certificates (academic transcripts only)

The application with attachments must be delivered in our electronic recruiting system. Foreign applicants are advised to attach an explanation of their University’s grading system. Please note that all documents should be in English (or a Scandinavian language).

In assessing the applications, special emphasis will be placed on the documented, academic qualifications, the project description (whenever this is required in the call for applicants), and the quality of the project as well as the candidates motivation and personal suitability. Interviews with the best qualified candidates will be arranged.
It is expected that the successful candidate will be able to complete the project in the course of the period of employment.

No one can be appointed for more than one Postdoctoral Fellow period at the University of Oslo.
