There is a vacancy for a PhD Research Fellow in synthesis and characterization of metal-organic frameworks at the Department of Chemistry. The position is for a fixed-term period of 3 years. The position is part of the project “Bond Activation and Reactivity of Hydrogen in Solid Frustrated Lewis PairsMetal-organic frameworks for recovery and separation of critical metals”, which is funded by the Research Council of Norway.
The primary objective of the project is to prepare new metal-organic framework materials containing frustrated Lewis pairs (FLP) and to investigate the properties of these solid systems towards hydrogen and nitrogen activation and use in hydrogenation reaction. The main tasks for the researcher will be synthesis of organic linker molecules, synthesis of metal-organic framework compounds with FLPs, characterization of the obtained materials, primarily by X-ray diffraction, including synchrotron experiments, thermal analysis, sorption measurements, and catalytic testing.
We are searching for a highly qualified and motivated candidates with an excellent track-record in chemistry, who is curious and creative, has a willingness to learn and apply new methods, has the skill to work independently and as a coworker in a team. The candidate is expected to contribute to the general maintenance of the research infrastructure in the research group, participate in popular science outreach activities that are part of the project dissemination and relocate for at least one, potentially more, research stays of 3 months at the project partner at the Technical University in Darmstadt (Germany).
