The position entails research, teaching and examination on the undergraduate and advanced level in Political Science, especially on global development, democratization, autocratization, international and comparative politics, with a focus on Asia. The tasks also include developing courses and course materials, especially within the Master’s program in political science with a focus on global Asian studies. The applicant will also actively participate in the Centre for Global Asian Studies’ activities.
The holder of the position is expected to contribute to strengthening research at the department through scientific publications and through research applications.
Teaching at the department is conducted in both Swedish and English.
The position includes own research time according to the local working time agreement for senior lecturers.
Qualification requirements
Eligible applicants for the position of senior lecturer should hold a PhD in political science or have equivalent research skills and have demonstrated teaching expertise.
Teaching proficiency should be demonstrated through teaching experience and course development at the undergraduate and master’s levels. Teaching proficiency should be well-documented and in a manner that makes it possible to assess the quality of the teaching activities.
The applicant must have the ability to cooperate with colleagues as well as other abilities that are required in order to meet successfully the demands of the position.
Assessment criteria
Special and equal emphasis will be placed on teaching and research skills demonstrated through independent research, teaching experience and tutorial within global development and the issues of democratization and autocratization, especially in Asia.
Strong emphasis will be placed on having successfully planned, applied for and obtained research project funds from external research funding bodies.
Strong emphasis will be placed on a documented ability to cooperate well with colleagues and fellow researchers.
Strong emphasis will be placed on documented experience of course development at basic and advanced level.
Emphasis will be placed on administrative skills and proven collaboration with the surrounding society and dissemination of research and development findings.
Teaching and learning in higher education
It is a merit to have completed at least 15 higher education credits in teaching and learning in higher education or have otherwise acquired equivalent knowledge.
