Postdoctoral position on brain evolution and animal behaviour
A postdoctoral research position focused on brain morphology evolution and behaviour is available in Niclas Kolm’s research group in the Department of Zoology at Stockholm University. The aim of the project is to investigate the evolutionary associations between brain morphology variation and behavioural variation at the individual level. To do this, the project will use three already established guppy (Poecilia reticulata) artificial selection lines with i) different brain size, ii) different shoaling behaviour and iii) different telencephalon size. Additional selection experiments are also possible depending on interest. Substantial infrastructures in the Department of Zoology allows multiple assays of cognitive abilities, mate choice, predator interactions, collective motion, physiology and brain and body morphology (the project has access to x-ray microscopy via a Zeiss versa 520) within the project.

Postdoctoral Fellow in Baltic Sea Research with focus on methane dynamics
The PostDoc will join a research group that applies a unique methodological approach that combines CH4 modeling, in terms of both sediment reactive- transport modeling and Baltic-scale physical-biogeochemical modeling, with biogeochemical analysis including stable isotopes, geophysical methods and non-invasive measurements of CH4 distribution continuously in water column.
The successful candidates will be expected to be active in numerical modelling, field and laboratory work, advise graduate students, and engage in inter-disciplinary research and public outreach. Postdoctoral Fellow in NonTarget Mass Spectrometry
The postdoctoral fellow will be supervised by Professor Jonathan Martin and Dr. Stefano Papazian in the Exposure & Effects Unit, Department of ACES. The successful candidate will work primarily at Science for Life Laboratory (SciLifeLab) with a diverse research group and in collaboration with the National Facility for Exposomics. A major responsibility will be to establish sample workflows and analytical conditions for sensitive contaminant detection and discovery using GC- and HPLC-Orbitrap high resolution mass spectrometry. You will also have the responsibility to clean and prepare passive air samplers for deploying in homes across Europe, and with their subsequent extraction to support nontarget analysis (in house) and toxicological assays (by partners in the consortium). You will also participate in integrating the chemical and toxicological data in a virtual effects-directed analysis (vEDA), and prioritize unknown substances for MS/MS experiments and structural elucidation. The postdoctoral fellow will be expected to plan, conduct, interpret and communicate the research and results.

Postdoctoral Fellow in numerical ice-sheet modelling
The goal is to obtain improved knowledge of the northern sector of the Greenland Ice Sheet’s contribution to future sea-level rise. An important task for the candidate will be to set up the ISSM model for the North Greenland Ice Sheet, to and carry out simulations to quantify its global sea-level contributions while making optimal use of available field data constraints and available relevant model output for future climate scenarios. Results from the project work shall be disseminated through peer-reviewed research articles to be published in international scientific journals. The possibility of participating in the North of Greenland Expedition 2024 with Icebreaker Oden can be investigated, depending on the applicant’s qualifications, interests and results obtained during the first 1.5 years of the project.

The researcher is expected to take a leading role in managing the SPIN database, setting up new coding schemes, overseeing and actively participating in coding of tax/benefit systems, as well as supervising the transfer of the SPIN database to the DEMSCORE research infrastructure.
