Job Summary

The iCAN Lab at Purdue University (PI: Sarah Karalunas) is seeking a full-time Research Technician (RT) to support a large, NIH-funded study focused on children and families with ADHD. The RT will focus on the programming and technical support needed to set-up and conduct research at Purdue and meet funders’ data organization and formatting needs. Specifically, this position will assist with the technical set-up and maintenance of lab equipment; write scripts to process EEG, cognitive, and other data (using Python or similar); support statistical analyses, infographics and other data visualization approaches (using R or similar); and support data uploads to a national open-source repository. The RT will also have opportunities to assist with data collection with children and families and with staff- and volunteer-training.

S2 requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Neuroscience, Human Development, Statistics, Engineering, Programming, or related field;
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a research-support or programming role
  • Experience with any of the following: Python, stimulus presentation software (PsychoPy, Eprime), Brain Vision software (Analyzer, Recorder), MATLAB, R, and/or statistical analysis programs.

Preferred:

  • Experience with more than one of the following—does not require expertise: Python, stimulus presentation software (PsychoPy, Eprime), Brain Vision software (Analyzer, Recorder), MATLAB, R, and/or statistical analysis programs.
  • Familiarity with EEG/ERP, eye-tracking, or cognitive data;
  • Experience training others
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal skills, and professionalism as a collegial team member;
  • Ability to work as part of a team and supervise others;
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail; and
  • Ability to efficiently multi-task and meet deadlines.
