Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research in Germany invites application for vacant PhD and Postdoctoral Positions, UFZ covers both basic research and applied research
Doctoral position / PhD (f/m/x) at the Department “Centre for Environmental Biotechnology”
As part of a joint project funded by the the Fachagentur Nachwachsende Rohstoffe e.V. a doctoral position is available for the sub-project ” Bioprocess and molecular biological investigations on causes and control strategies for foam formation in biogas plants”.
Doctoral position / PhD (f/m/x) at the Department of Environmental Microbiology
PhD position for microbiologists with practical relevance: molecular biological investigations of process disturbances in biogas plants
Topic: Combined effect of pesticides and environmental factors in running waters
PhD-Position (f/m/x) in Microscale Analysis of Hydrogen-Producing Cyanobacteria
PhD position within the project “Chip-based cultivation and analysis of photohydrogen production in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803” is devoted
to connecting the condition-dependent reactivity of a hydrogen-producing cyanobacterial photobiocatalyst with extracellular reaction parameters.
PhD Position (f/m/x) Subject: Cyanobacterial Hydrogen Production
The working group “Applied Biocatalysis” (Department Solar Materials) at the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research GmbH – UFZ in Leipzig offers a PhD position. The PhD work will contribute to the development of hydrogen producing cyanobacteria making use of photosynthetic water oxidation to fuel hydrogen production with the necessary reduction equivalents.
Thesis/Student assistant (m/f/d) – Topic: Understanding the interaction of chemical and non-chemical stressors in freshwater ecosystems.
Internship (Bachelor/Master) (m/f/d) – Topic: Analysis of macrozoobenthos communities in near-natural mesocosms
Internship (Bachelor/Master) (m/f/d) – Topic: Analysis of macrozoobenthos communities in near-natural mesocosms
In the framework of the new EU project “BioAgora” which will establish the EU “Science Service” aiming at ratcheting up the implementation of biodiversity commitments, the Department of Conservation Biology and Social-Ecological Systems (NSF) is offering two positions with a start date of November 1st, 2022.
Statistical Consulting, Teaching and Coordination
We seek a highly motivated, team-oriented scientist with an exceptional expertise in statistical consultation and teaching.
Student/Research Assistant (f/m/x)
We are looking for energetic support in the laboratory to research how environmental chemicals can modulate the function of immune cells and what consequences this has for the whole organism.
Research Technician/ HIWI (f/m/x)
HiWi for plant ecology and invasion science projects wanted until end of year
PostDoc / Senior Scientist in Elemental Analysis (ICP-MS) (f/m/x)
Metals and metalloids play an important role in biological processes, enzymes and cofactors and are still relevant as environmental contaminants.
Postdoc position (m/f/x) on engineering the membrane electron transport pathway in Synechocystis
We are seeking an enthusiastic person to fill a postdoc position funded by the BMBF Nachwuchsgruppenprojekt BioPV4H2. The candidate will be expected and supported to be qualified for the next scientific career step during the funding period.
Intensive use of resources, morphological changes and climate change pose a major challenge for our river ecosystems, which are interconnected in many ways with their surrounding landscape.
Research Assistant (f/m/x) for the Study of Microbial Cell Assembly using Single Cell Analysis
In our group we have been working in the field of microbial population ecology for several years. Single cell techniques that can measure specific functions are being developed as part of the Z-project and will be made available for collaboration in the SPP. Visualization of population-inherent phenotypes (subpopulations) with a range of different fluorescent markers and sorting of these phenotypes for further down-stream analysis will be part of the work. Certain technologies will be adapted to the microorganisms used in the Z project, and new technologies will be developed and made available for collaboration in the Z project. The technician will help to develop new technologies to visualize functional properties of the single microbial cell.
Postdoctoral Scientist (f/m/x) for the Study of Microbial Cell Assembly using Single Cell Analysis
Through these techniques and with the help of bioinformatics, the spatiotemporal functional properties of cell assemblies will be understood at a higher level. The postdoctoral position required for the Z-Project will support an early career scientist on the path to an independent research career.
Postdoctoral Scientist (f/m/x) NutNet Europe (NEu) Project
The Physiological Diversity Department is seeking to recruit a highly motivated and reliable scientist (f/m/x) to work within our international team
Postdoc (f/m/x) in Microbial Modelling
The department Solar Materials is seeking a postdoc in metabolic modelling starting 01.09.2022. The position should strengthen our in silico team focusing on quantitative description of photobiotechnological processes and microbial catalysts.
Postdoctoral Researcher (d/m/f) Microbial Metabolic Analysis
In the framework of a new initiative on hydrogen production from cyanobacteria (H2-Saxony), the Department of Solar Materials is looking for a Postdoctoral Researcher (d/m/w) Microbial Metabolic Analysis to start on 1st September 2022.
