ASSISTANT PROFESSOR, PHARMECEUTICAL SCIENCES

The School of Pharmacy at the University of Waterloo is seeking an outstanding scholar and researcher for a full-time, regular tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor, in the areas of Pharmaceutical Sciences/Pharmacology. In the case of an exceptional candidate, an appointment at the rank of Associate Professor will be considered.  The anticipated start date is April 1, 2023.

The successful applicant will be expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to scholarship and teaching, and develop a robust, externally funded research program that supports graduate students and post-doctoral fellows. Evidence of an actively developing research program is required. Duties include research, teaching and service. Teaching in the PharmD professional program and Pharmacy graduate programs, and supervision of graduate students are expected.  Evidence of teaching excellence, innovation and flexibility in teaching modality will be highly valued. Successful candidates are expected to have a PhD or equivalent terminal degree.  Applicants who are Pharmacists should be eligible for registration with the Ontario College of Pharmacists. 

The salary range for this position at the rank of Assistant Professor is $100,000 to $130,000. Negotiations beyond this salary range will be considered for exceptionally qualified candidates.

ANALYTICAL CHEMISTRY – TENURE-TRACK ASSISTANT PROFESSOR – DEPARTMENT OF CHEMISTRY, UNIVERSITY OF WATERLOO

TheDepartment of Chemistryin the Faculty of Science at the University of Waterloo invites applications from outstanding scholars and researchers for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in any area of Analytical Chemistrywith ananticipated start date ofJuly 1, 2023. In exceptional cases, an appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Full Professor will be considered.

Creative scientists with a strong commitment to excellence in research, teaching and service are encouraged to apply. Applicants should have outstanding training and demonstrated excellence in chemistry or a closely related discipline. A PhD in Chemistry or an equivalent discipline, as well as postdoctoral experience, is required.

The successful candidate is expected to establish a strong, independent research group including supervision and mentoring of graduate students, and be able to develop collaborations with researchers in the Department of Chemistry and other departments and research centres at Waterloo and internationally. Our interdisciplinary and collaborative department includes 41 faculty, and active, innovative programs shared with other departments in the Faculties of Science, Mathematics, Health and Engineering, as well as other universities around the world. Our faculty are key members of interdisciplinary research centres such as the Waterloo Institute for Nanotechnology, the Water Institute, the Interdisciplinary Centre on Climate Change, and the Centre for Bioengineering & Biotechnology.

The successful candidate will also have a record of outstanding teaching, or will be able to provide evidence of potential to develop and deliver introductory and advanced courses in any area of analytical chemistry in the chemistry programs at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

ASSISTANT PROFESSOR – QUANTUM INFORMATION

Applications are invited for two tenure-track faculty positions at the rank of Assistant Professor, and in special cases Associate or Full Professor, at the Institute for Quantum Computing (IQC). These positions can be held in any of the departments and schools connected to IQC:  Applied Mathematics, Pure Mathematics, Combinatorics and Optimization, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Chemistry, Physics & Astronomy, and the Cheriton School of Computer Science. The anticipated start date will be September 1, 2023.

A PhD and significant evidence of excellence in research in quantum information science and technology and the potential for effective teaching are required. Responsibilities include the supervision of graduate students and teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Based on qualifications, an annual salary range of $100,000 to $155,000 will be considered. Negotiations beyond this annual salary range will be considered for exceptionally qualified candidates. The search is open to all areas of quantum information that connect with the goals and ongoing research at IQC.

IQC is a collaborative research institute at the University of Waterloo focused on quantum information science and technology, ranging from the theory of quantum information to practical applications. At present, IQC has a complement of 30 faculty members, 47 postdoctoral fellows and 200 graduate students from the Faculties of Engineering, Mathematics and Science. Assistant Professors, Sustainability and Financial Management, University of Waterloo 

The School of Environment, Enterprise and Development (SEED), in the Faculty of Environment, University of Waterloo, invites applications for two tenure-track positions with expertise that combines financial management and sustainability. These tenure-track positions will be filled at the rank of Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will have a PhD in a related field and may not have all their degrees from the same traditional discipline. Salary, in the range of $100,000 to $125,000, will be commensurate with experience. The closing date for applications is May 31, 2022. The preferred start date is September 1, 2022. 
 
Preferred candidates will have research expertise and demonstrated teaching excellence in one or more of the following areas: sustainable finance; climate finance; responsible or impact investing; sustainability assurance; integrated ESG measurement, materiality, and reporting; strategic integration of sustainability objectives; climate risk disclosure and valuation; and human capital and social accounting. We are particularly interested in applicants whose teaching and research focuses on social sustainability objectives, such as, social welfare, equitable distribution of benefits and costs, human rights, labour, gender equality, children’s rights, Indigenous rights, environmental justice, human capital measurement and reporting, or diversity and inclusion of marginalized communities. The position will primarily support teaching and research activities in the Sustainability and Financial Management program.

The Faculty of Health, University of Waterloo, is seeking two tenure-track/tenured academic scholars who will contribute to Indigenous excellence in the Faculty of Health and to Waterloo’s goal of a culture of equity, diversity, and inclusivity for all through increasing the representation of self-identified Indigenous academics (i.e., status and non-status First Nations, Inuit/Inuk, Métis and those from tribal nations and Indigenous communities across Turtle Island).

Waterloo seeks candidates whose scholarship advances learning and knowledge through teaching, research, and scholarship in any of the following disciplinary areas:

Areas of priority include Kinesiology and Health Sciences, Recreation and Leisure Studies, and Public Health Sciences. Within Kinesiology and Health Sciences our focus includes health and (wearable) technology, work and health, exercise and nutritional sciences, and rehabilitation sciences. Within Recreation and Leisure Studies our focus includes recreation and leisure, sport management, therapeutic recreation, and event management. Successful candidates must have either earned a doctoral degree or be ‘all but dissertation’ (ABD) or have earned an equivalent terminal degree in the field of study or be nearing completion; the relevant degree must be awarded within six months of employment. Candidates must demonstrate evidence of an actively developing research trajectory. Duties include conducting research and/or research creation, teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level, supervising graduate students, and contributing to the service needs of the University. The ability to develop and teach in a variety of contexts, including in person, online and remote delivery is required. The salary range for the position will depend upon the rank (i.e., Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Professor) and the discipline. Negotiations will be considered at the discretion of each hiring department.
