Postdoctoral Fellowships
Barcelona, Spain
he European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) is one of the highest ranked scientific research organizations in the world. The newest EMBL site is located in the Barcelona Biomedical Research Park (PRBB), one of the largest infrastructures in Southern Europe dedicated to translational research.
The main focus of the EMBL Barcelona site is in tissue biology and disease modeling. This particular position is for a PostDoc researcher to work in the laboratory of Dr. Talya Dayton at EMBL Barcelona.
The Dayton lab develops 3D in vitro organoid models of human tissue (airway/lung and patient tumors) to recapitulate developmental and cancer phenotypes of a specialized, hormone-producing cell type, the neuroendocrine cell. The group has two broad areas of interest – development and cancer – and we are interested in understanding how developmental and cancer pathways intersect and can be manipulated for patient benefit. More information about the lab can be found on their website: https://www.embl.org/groups/dayton/
Dr. Dayton aims to create an inclusive & fun team environment where team members support and inspire each other so that they can solve problems and address important questions together. Dr. Dayton is committed to supporting the career development of her team members.
Your role
We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher to work on a project related to EMBL’s Human Ecosystems Transversal Theme, where the focus will be using human organoid models to understand how environmental exposures and genetic perturbations influence airway plasticity and susceptibility to cancer. The project will involve collaboration with the Cortes-Ciriano group at EMBL-EBI as well as additional collaborations with clinicians and environmental epidemiologists. Within this framework, the specific project can be tailored to fit the candidate’s particular expertise and interests. This specific position is for a 2-year appointment with the possibility and expectation for renewal.
The successful candidate will be intrinsically motivated, and will lead their own project, contribute to other projects on a collaborative basis (both in the lab and with external collaborators) and may guide PhD and Masters students in their research. Importantly, the candidate will contribute to shaping the environment and research of a young and growing research team.Apply now
