Division

Our group is an integral part of the unit of endocrinology at the department of medicine in Huddinge and is led by Paul Petrus.

Duties

We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher with a background in neuroscience to join our team. The primary objective of our research is to characterize circadian processes involved in both metabolic and mental disorders. As a successful candidate, you will lead a neuroscientific branch in our lab and collaborate closely with researchers specializing in metabolism.

Responsibilities:

  1. Drive a multidisciplinary project combining bioinformatic analyses and functional characterization using in vitro and in vivo systems.
  2. Conduct experiments and apply techniques such as immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization, and stereotactic injections.
  3. Stay up-to-date with the latest literature in neuroscience and contribute your expertise to the group.
  4. Play a central role in our multidisciplinary team, actively participating in discussions, presenting findings, and collaborating with other researchers.

Entry requirements

Scholarships for postdoctoral qualification can be established for foreign researchers who place their qualifications in Sweden. The purpose of scholarships for postdoctoral qualification is to promote internationalization and contribute to research qualification after a doctorate or equivalent. To be eligible for a postdoctoral scholarship, the person must have obtained a doctorate or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a doctorate.

Qualifications:

  1. Ph.D. in Neuroscience or related field.
  2. Knowledge of circadian processes and their relevance in health and disease.
  3. Proficiency in bioinformatic analyses.
  4. Familiarity with techniques such as immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization, and stereotactic injections.
  5. Experience working with murine models.
  6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  7. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team setting.

Location: Flemingsberg Campus

Type of scholarship

The postdoctoral researcher will be paid a tax-exempt scholarship for a period of fifteen months from the Swedish Wenner-Gren Foundations. The scholarship is external and the postdoctoral researcher will be affiliated to Karolinska Institutet and receive a contract from the Wenner-Gren Foundations.
