The Sprott School of Business at Carleton University invites applications from qualified candidates for an appointment in Finance at the rank of Instructor II/III level beginning May 1, 2024.

The School seeks an instructor specializing in Finance. Applicants should have a PhD in Finance or a related field or be close to completion. The successful candidate will have, appropriate to the stage of career, a demonstrated record of teaching excellence at the post-secondary level and excel at teaching finance to a diverse student body. In addition, the successful candidate will have demonstrable skills in analyzing financial data using Python and/or R. Preference will be given to candidates with a CFA® charter or working towards one. Teaching experience at an AACSB accredited Business School will be an asset.

Qualifications

The successful applicant should possess:

  • PhD in Finance or related field awarded in the last five (5) years. If PhD degree was awarded more than 5 years ago, candidate must demonstrate currency through a recent strong research record or through recent sustained linkages to professional engagement in finance.
  • Demonstrable skills in data analysis (such as knowledge of Python and/or R).
  • Appropriate to stage of career, demonstrated aptitude for teaching Finance at the graduate level.
  • Commitment to continuing improvement and excellence in teaching.
