Position Description

The Faculty of Nursing within the University of Calgary invites applications for an appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor (tenure track) or Associate Professor (with tenure) within the teaching and research stream.

Candidates must have a PhD in nursing or a related discipline and are eligible for registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta.

Applicants at the Assistant Professor rank will be early career academics who are establishing research programs, have previous professional and teaching experience in one of the Faculty’s three strategic research priority areas, an emerging publication record, and promising capability in undergraduate and graduate-level teaching and supervision.

Applicants at the Associate Professor rank will be mid-career nursing academics with a well-established track record of competitive research funding with demonstrated impact in this area, demonstrated excellence in teaching within undergraduate and graduate programs, advising and supervision of graduate students, evidence of established academic partnerships in professional and other communities and, engagement with colleagues in support and development of priority faculty initiatives.

The appointment start is flexible, and can begin between September 1 – December 31, 2023, or as soon as possible thereafter.

Interested applicants will provide a cover letter, curriculum vitae, a statement outlining their program of research, a description of previous university teaching experience and present/aspiring contributions to the field, reprints of two (2) representative academic publications, and current working status in Canada.
