Duration: 12+ months (extendable)

Salary: $45,000+ CAD per year, plus University of Calgary Plan C Benefits
The Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing in the Schulich School of Engineering at the University of Calgary is accepting applications for a Postdoctoral Scholar in the areas of lithium-ion and solid state batteries. The research activities include the synthesis of novel anode materials and characterizations in the development of next generation of Li-Ion batteries.
Job Description:
A position is available at the University of Calgary for a postdoctoral researcher to join an interdisciplinary team developing a novel way to develop and synthesis battery materials and processes. The work will involve in-depth electrochemistry, material science, and electrical analysis.
This project could be a part of MITACS Accelerate/Elevate project (a higher salary may be provided). The postdoctoral researcher may be required to closely collaborate with the sponsor and will be expected to work at the company. In addition, the researcher would mentor other team members.
Qualifications:
- Candidates must have a PhD or equivalent in Engineering/Science or a related field with a focus in one or more areas, including electrochemistry, material science, and battery fabrications.
- The position requires experience in lithium-ion battery manufacturing, characterization and testing (EIS, FT-IR, SEM, potentiostat, Raman, glovebox, etc.).
- The applicant should be motivated and possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
- The successful candidates will have a proven record of success and be able to conduct research independently as well as part of a team.
To be eligible as a Postdoctoral scholar at the University of Calgary, you must have been awarded a PhD or equivalent within the five (5) years immediately preceding the appointment. Please review the Postdoc Eligibility Guidelines for more information prior to applying for this position.
