Position Description

Area: Health Policy Research
Duration:  Two years with possibility of extension
Start Date:  As soon as possible
Salary: $50,000 plus benefits
 
The Health Policy Trails Unit  in the Centre for Health Policy  within the O’Brien Institute for Public Health in the Cumming School of Medicine at the University of Calgary is accepting applications for a Postdoctoral Associate in the Health Policy. 

Job Description:

The postdoctoral scholar will use quantitative, qualitative, or mixed methods research to test, evaluate, and mobilize health policies, including health care delivery policies, public health policies, health insurance policies, and social and economic policies that impact health. The postdoctoral scholar will work under the supervision of Dr. David Campbell, Associate Professor & Consultant Endocrinologist.

Numerous opportunities exist for the successful candidate to contribute to multiple on-going and planned randomized controlled trials of health policies and knowledge mobilization and implementation science projects as well as to develop their own area of research expertise and to publish and present scholarly work

Qualifications:

Individuals should be motivated and enthusiastic about health policy research and have experience with policy, pragmatic trials, economics, implementation science, economics, statistics, or other related fields.

  • PhD, MD or equivalent degree completed within 3 years of the beginning of the appointment.
  • Demonstrated experience or interest in health policy research
  • Experience with quantitative and/or qualitative research methods, study design, data collection, analysis and data management
  • Familiarity with SAS, STATA, or R as well as NVivo is desirable
  • Demonstrated strong leadership, communication, analytical, and organizational skills
  • Established record of scientific reports, policy briefs, and/or papers
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills are essential
  • Ability to work collaboratively with departmental and interdepartmental teams and effective time management
  • Knowledge of and experience in systematic reviews and advanced literature searching skills
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), and advanced internet skills
  • A positive attitude and the ability to work independently and as part of a team are critical to success
  • A commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion
