We offer a 6 months internship or Master thesis (m/f/d) – Cancer Metabolism
The research group Immunoregulation, led by Prof. Dr. Peter Murray, is recognized as a leader in the field of Metabolism and Immunology. The Murray group seeks to understand how different metabolic pathways regulate cellular homeostasis in health and disease. We mostly focus on understanding decision making in the immune system, but we are now expanding our knowledge to cancer cells. We seek a talented and motivated Master Student (m/f/d) to work on a project to dissect the role of the molybdenum cofactor synthesis pathway in maintaining cellular homeostasis in cancer cells.
What you will do
- Join a dynamic and highly productive research group composed of 10 scientists.
- Learning and performing various molecular biological techniques (Cloning, western blots and qPCR).
- Perform cell culture experiments (live-cell imaging, immunofluorescence, flow-cytometry).
- Cell engineering using the CRISPR-Cas9 system.
- Based on how the project will develop, there might be also a possibility to perform proteomics and RNAseq experiments.
- Data analysis and presentation preparation.
Requirements
- Enrolled in a relevant Master program (Human Biology, molecular or cell biology, biochemistry).
- Highly motivated and good team-player.
- Experience in cell culture and basic molecular biology techniques.
- Experience in primary cell culture, confocal microscopy and flow-cytometry is favoured.
The initial appointment will be for 6 month with a possible extension, starting in mid-February or March 2024.
