The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences of the University of Basel is an Academic Drug Discovery & Development Center, which comprehensively covers academic drug research throughout pre-clinical and clinical research phases. The Nanopharmaceutical and Regulatory Science Group (NRSG) within the Department is searching for a PhD-level scientist with training in immunology and nanomedicine formulations.

Your position

Nanomedicine-based formulations have been used to deliver a wide variety of active pharmaceutical ingredients over the past several decades. These ‘nanoformulations’ can favorably alter a drug’s pharmacokinetic profile and decrease adverse side effects. Within the NRSG we study the encapsulation of drugs and biologics using lipid-based nanoparticles. This postdoctoral position will investigate the interactions of these constructs with the immune system. More specifically, the project will evaluate and compare the anti-drug antibody (ADA) response between liposome-encapsulated proteins and the free / unencapsulated protein.

Your profile

The candidate will be a scientist with a PhD in a related field (such as immunology, pharmacy, biology, or medicine), and have relevant training / experience with the humoral immune response. Experience with nanomedicine is preferred, but not required. This postdoc will actively collaborate with colleagues in academia and the pharmaceutical industry. Fluency in English is required.

We offer you

The candidate will join a newly established research group that generates and characterises novel formulations for a variety of clinical indications. The NRSG emphasizes translational and regulatory sciences, ensuring that resulting drug products can quickly be brought into clinical trials.  The initial contract will be for two years with the possibility of extension.
