University of Vaasa is reforming doctoral education and wants to support the start of doctoral studies in a new way. You have an opportunity to apply for the position of a researcher trainee, where you can get to know and prepare for doctoral studies. The employment contract can be fixed-term with a duration of 3-6 months for example. The work begins as agreed based on your situation.
The positions are located in Schools: School of Accounting and Finance, School of Management, School of Marketing and Communications and School of Technology and Innovations.
Tasks
Goal of the position is to explore doctoral studies, to complete your current Master’s thesis and to plan and prepare your future doctoral dissertation topic. The purpose is to make a research plan with doctoral studies in mind, either independently or in connection with a suitable project of a potential supervisor. It is also possible to familiarize yourself with doctoral studies by taking graduate-level courses offered by the Graduate School.
It would be desirable that you apply for doctoral studies during or after your employment. Doctoral students are selected through the normal selection process.

Requirements
You’re in the final phase of your Master’s studies, which means you are currently doing your Master’s thesis and close to finish it. You are interested in doctoral studies and would like to receive guidance and support before starting them.
The administrative language of the University of Vaasa is Finnish. If the candidate is not a Finnish citizen or a Finnish citizen who is not a native speaker, or has not been educated in Finnish, they may be granted an exemption from the language proficiency requirement without separate application. Salary
The salary is based on the University Salary System for Teaching and Research Staff on demand level 1 (approx. 2100 €/month, 100% working time).
