About the project:
PrecaNord will examine precarious and informal work in the Nordic countries. The future of the Nordic social model depends on the availability of secure employment. In focus is research on how workers experience informal work, its consequences to workers livelihoods and to their sense of belonging, and trust in society. The postdoctoral fellow appointed at the University of Bergen will focus on the situation in Norway, while two other postdoctoral fellows will do similar work in Sweden and Finland. To get a comprehensive view of the phenomenon and to understand how gender, age, nationality, ethnicity, and migrancy intersect in the field, the project focus on 1) construction work; 2) cleaning work (of both homes and offices); and 3) low-skilled platform work (food delivery, taxi service, cleaning services). The postdoctoral fellow will mainly conduct empirical research, including participant observation and semi-structured interviews. A project description is available.
