The Norman Paterson School of International Affairs invites applications for a Tier 2 Canada Research Chair whose work centres on policy-relevant questions related to Cybersecurity, National Security and Foreign Policy. An appointment will be at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, including possibly with tenure, depending on the qualifications of the successful candidate.

Tier 2 Chairs are intended for exceptional emerging researchers (i.e. typically less than 10 years from highest degree at nomination) who are acknowledged by their peers as potential leaders in their field. About the Academic Unit

NPSIA is a recognized centre of academic excellence in international affairs and public policy.  It is the largest and oldest school of its kind in Canada. We offer M.A., M.A.-J.D. and Ph.D. degrees in international affairs (http://www.carleton.ca/npsia), and contribute to the Master’s in Infrastructure Protection and International Security (MIPIS) degree that is jointly offered with the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Carleton University.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess:

  • a PhD in Political Science or a cognate discipline (Carleton requirement)
  • an outstanding record of research and peer-reviewed publications
  • a record of high-quality teaching and supervision
  • an emerging record of international recognition in their field(s) and the capacity to establish themselves as an international leader within the next 5-10 years
  • a proposal for an original, innovative research program of the highest quality
  • experience and/or detailed plan to address equity, diversity and inclusion
  • the capacity to attract substantial external research funding

Preference will be given to candidates external to Carleton University, although internal candidates can apply and be assured fair consideration in the process.
