The research topic of Pervasive and Mobile Computing focuses on basic and application-oriented research in software systems, distributed applications, and human-computer interaction in several application areas. In recent years, the group has also focused specifically on how computer game technology can be applied to new areas such as learning and health. To strengthen our efforts in applied game technologies, we are recruiting a postdoctoral researcher interested in applied game technology.

Subject description
Pervasive and mobile computing address distributed systems and mobile networks, which enable mobility, ubiquity and interactivity of computers, data, software and users.

Project description

Examples of suitable research direction
– development of a model for designing collaborative gamification interventions for active school transport.
– integrating gamification in persuasive technologies to support behaviour change toward active school transport.

Duties
The postdoctoral researcher will be actively involved in the ideation, design, and implementation of games for pupils in primary school to promote children’s natural opportunity for everyday movement through Active school transport. To prepare for future academic positions, a postdoctoral position can include pedagogical development and teaching up to 20%.

Qualifications
We are looking for enthusiastic candidates who can conduct modern research both independently and as part of a team. The qualifying background for applicants is a doctoral degree in Computer Science or equivalent. Priority is given to candidates who have completed a doctoral degree within three years before the application deadline.

You must have proven competence and skills in several programming languages ​e.g., JavaScript, PHP, Java, C# and experience of web development (frontend and backend). Additionally, previous experience in game development (portfolio) and publications in high impact journal will be considered a merit.

You must be able to express yourself in English, at advanced level, in writing and orally to present and publish research results.

The department wishes to increase the proportion of women from the current 15% and provided that the qualifications are the same, female applicants will therefore be given priority.
