The Department of Public Health and Clinical Medicine is now looking for a postdoctoral fellow. The position is full time and for a period of two years, starting as soon as possible or by appointment.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

This project aims to unravel underlying mechanisms of type 2 diabetes development and remission. Type 2 diabetes (T2D) has been considered a permanent disease that deteriorates over time. There is now ample evidence to support that T2D remission is possible and associated with ability to reduce lipids accumulated in organs (ectopic fats), such as pancreas, liver and skeletal muscle. But the mechanism remains unknown. This project focus on lipid mechanisms that links to altered insulin sensitivity and secretion, which are central to both type 2 diabetes development and remission. The project involves comprehensive metabolomics and lipidomics as well as target analyses of lipid pathways and functional analyses of cells and tissues from human and animal models.

This postdoctoral position includes planning and evaluation of experimental research work in collaboration with other researchers linked to this project. You will also be responsible for writing and presenting obtained research data in publications and at scientific conferences and meetings.

QUALIFICATIONS

To be eligible for the position you should have a PhD, or equivalent, in biophysics, biochemistry, chemistry, or related discipline. Priority should be given to candidates who have completed their doctoral degree no more than three years before the closing date of the application. A candidate who has completed their degree prior to this may be considered if special circumstances exist.

We are looking for  candidates with experience in mass spectrometry-based analyses of small molecules, e.g., metabolomics and lipidomics. General knowledge in protein chemistry and biochemistry are required. It is important that you re able to work in a team as well as independently. Good oral and written communication skills in English are required.

Please submit your application in English, combined in one pdf file:

1. A cover letter including your past achievements and research interests
