Are you interested in becoming part of a research team that studies the development of an organometallic catalytic method for upgrading CO2 under game changing mild conditions? As member of the Martin Nielsen group at DTU Chemistry, you will be co-responsible for developing on our disruptive methodology for converting CO2 to industrial commodities under environmentally benign conditions. An IRFD Thematic Green Transition Research Project 2 funds the position, which is for three years beginning January 1, 2022, or as soon as possible thereafter.

Responsibilities and qualifications
Your main challenges will be to rationally design and synthesize novel organometallic complexes tailored towards hydrogenative CO2 transformations as well as to develop and optimize the catalytic procedures. In addition, you will be become integral for mentoring and/or co-supervising students of all levels. Finally, acquisition of teaching experience is supported.

At best, you have a background in experimental chemistry and a strong commitment to research. You must have experience with catalysis and inorganic chemistry, with focus on transition metal coordination chemistry or organometallic catalysis.

You are highly motivated, eager to seek and to share knowledge, able to work independently in a dynamic group environment, and confident in planning and carrying out complicated tasks. Good communication skills in both written and spoken English are expected.

In addition, for the assessment of the candidates, consideration will be given to

  • Scientific production and research potential at an international level
  • Scientific experience basis, preferably including international experience
  • Innovative skills and the ability to generate new ideas
  • Ability and willingness to work and thrive in a highly ambitious research group that aims to establish new research fields, and thus is prepared to take greater scientific risks than the general trend is in academia
  • Ability to communicate scientific results at both an academic level and in layman’s terms
  • Ability to navigate in and contribute to an inclusive, diverse and multi-cultural working environment

As a formal qualification, you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent).

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union. The period of employment is 3 years beginning January 1, 2022, or as soon as possible.
