|Strategic Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Economic Development Office
|The âOffice of Strategic Innovation, Entrepreneurship & Economic Development (SIEED)â has been established in Fall 2021 in the QU President Office to initiate, manage, execute, and/or coordinate developments of the President Office innovation and transformation cross-strategies and initiatives (e.g. Innovation & Entrepreneurship strategy, Digital Transformation Strategy, etc.) among other strategic innovation and transformation duties and functions. The SIEED Office is also particularly focused on design, management, and execution on the evolution of holistic and mature âQU Innovation, Entrepreneurship & Economic Development Ecosystemâ across all QU sectors and emerging companies and ventures in integrated manner with the National Innovation & Economic Development ecosystem. This particular focus is in the process of realizing QU new vision aiming at positioning Qatar University as a â .. Catalyst for Sustainable Socio-Economic Development of Qatarâ and is closely integrating with state transformation efforts into Innovation & Knowledge Based Economy (iKBE) as envisioned in Qatar National Vision 2030, the National Development Strategies, and Qatar Research, Development, and Innovation (QRDI) 2030 Strategy.
|Duties & Responsibilities
|1.Work closely with the office leadership to ensures the success of the University’s commitment to supporting economic development by facilitating and ensuring maximization of QU digital startups and spinouts development out of the incubation programs and activities
2.Work closely with other office teams members responsible for innovation, entrepreneurship, training, and incubation programs on maximizing intakes and accelerating digital entrepreneurship capabilities and digital startups growth.
3.Design, develop, implement, integrate and manage end to end life cycle of digital startups developments customized/focused programs and activities from pre-incubation, into incubation, post-incubation, and scaling-up and acceleration
4.Build strategic relationships with a variety of QU technology and digital ecosystem stakeholders to leverage capabilities, identify opportunities, and incept new digital commercialization and startups
5.Research trends, opportunities, and niche areas of high growth potential disruptive digital innovations, commercialization, and startups of potential for inception and development in QU innovation and economic development ecosystem
6.Monitor and promote digital startups growth and funds raising of their teams
7.Create and maintain networks of digital entrepreneurship and digital startups entrepreneurs, mentors, professionals, funders, university academics, and B2B contacts, and facilitate their strategic interaction with participating teams and startups in the incubation programs and activities
8.Evaluates and seek potential digital entrepreneurship and digital startups external funding sources
9.Conduct digital business counseling meetings on an individual basis with teams, startups, academics, tenants and clients working in digital entrepreneurship and digital startups development
10.Assist in development and delivery of relevant curricular components and digital learning modules for integration in QU education ecosystem
11.Supervise or co-supervise digital entrepreneurship senior design graduation projects, or courses projects of high potential for digital commercialization
12.Assist in developing relevant research proposals relevant to digital innovation, entrepreneurship, and economic development ecosystem acceleration internally in QU or externally on the national ecosystem
13.Develop reports, research papers and presentations in digital innovation and entrepreneurship relevant to areas of scope of duties
14.Lead or help in organization of relevant national and international innovation and entrepreneurship events in collaboration with other office members and key stakeholders internally and externally
15.Lead the design and implementation of QU Virtual Innovation and Entrepreneurship Hub and QU Online Incubation-Acceleration Programs
16.Any other duties as assigned by direct line manager
|BSc/MSc preferably in a mix of Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering and Business Administration (or any other related engineering or quantitative field; MSc in Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship or an MBA are highly desired),
PhD (Highly Preferable) or terminal degree in Digital/Technology Entrepreneurship, Computer Science, Information Systems, Technology Innovation Management, or closely related field
