The Faculty of Science and Technology (REALTEK) at The Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU), has a vacant full-time Project Management Officer position. The position is vacant from January 2024.

Project title: Battery Cell Assembly Twin (BatCAT), which runs from 2024 -2027.

The Horizon Europe project Battery Cell Assembly Twin (BatCAT) is a collaboration between 18 partners located in Austria, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Norway, Slovenia, Spain, and the UK.  The project is coordinated by The Faculty of Science and Technology (REALTEK) at NMBU. In addition to the Material Theory and Informatics research group at REALTEK, principal investigators at NMBU within BatCAT also come from the Department of Physics as well as the Faculty of Environmental Sciences and Natural Resource Management (MINA).

The position will be associated with The Department of Data Science at REALTEK, and will work closely with the Material Theory and Informatics Research Group.

The post provides an opportunity for an experienced, motivated, and well-organized individual to join an important project with a highly qualified international team of colleagues. The appointee will be a key member of the BatCAT team, essential to the success of the project, and will work closely with the Project Coordinator, Dr Martin Thomas Horsch.

Main workplace is in Ås, 30 km south of Oslo, but some international travels is to be expected.

Main tasks

The main responsibility of the project manager officer is to carry out NMBU’s tasks related to coordinating the project and reporting to the European Commission, and to assist the project coordinator in the supervision and implementation of the project.

The PMO will be managing the effective communication and cooperation among BatCATs beneficiaries and with the European Commission on administrative, legal and financial issues. Responsible for Work Package 8 “Technical Management” together with the project coordinator and to ensure that the consortium meets its obligations under the Grant Agreement and the Consortium Agreement.

Specifically, this entails

  • Preparing for, arranging, and reporting from meetings
  • Overseeing adherence to the deadlines for reporting, meetings, and other deliverables according to the Grant Agreement and Consortium Agreement
  • Assisting with collection, consolidation and review of the deliverable reports and contributions for the progress and financial reports
  • Engaging with, and managing support towards Work Package leaders on logistical, administrative, and financial matters
  • Assisting with identifying and mitigating risks perceived to impact project performance or quality
  • Assisting with the continued development of the project’s data management plan and the project’s ethical/societal requirements
  • Assisting project coordinator with internal and external communication and dissemination of project outputs
  • Liaising with Head of Administration for necessary administrative and financial services and consultations on important administrative and financial matters regarding the project
  • Liaising with the NMBU central administration (Research and Innovation Department) on technical, legal, and financial aspects that may affect the Project and
  • Liaising with the EU Commission’s Grants office for all administrative, legal and financial related matters on the project.

Competence

Required qualifications

  • A relevant university degree (minimum master or equivalent).
  • Other documented relevant prior experience/knowledge will be emphasized in the selection and may replace the educational requirement.
  • Experience in project administration.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English

The following experiences and skills will be an advantage (but not required):

  • Experience in Horizon 2020/ Horizon Europe research project administration or other research projects
  • Doctorate in a relevant discipline
  • Background in materials theory and informatics
  • Experience in managing publicly funded projects
  • Background in the battery R&D landscape, specially within Europe
  • Experience with project management tools
  • Fluent, written and spoken, in a Scandinavian language (Norwegian, Swedish, or Danish)

Remuneration and further information

The position is placed in government pay scale position code 1434 Adviser with salary grade 60-65 (currently NOK 584 500 – 635 400) on the Norwegian Government salary scale upon employment depending on qualification.
