DTU Electrical Engineering at DTU invites applications for a position as Professor in Analogue IC design.

You will be part of our Electronics Section, conducting both fundamental and applied research within analogue IC design, power electronics and converter-based power systems – all contribution to the green transition and a sustainable future as well as technology for improving people’s lives.

Our ambitions include bringing forward new generations of high power-density on-chip power supplies by leveraging converter and IC design expertise to deliver integrated power solutions. To achieve this, it is the wish to establish strategic partnerships with IC foundries and manufacturers for custom devices, as well as interdisciplinary collaboration projects.

We aim for applications within varied fields: electrochemical energy systems, converter-based power systems, harsh-environment electronics, consumer electronics and flexible smart wearables.

Responsibilities and qualifications
As professor, you will be responsible for building up an internationally recognised research activity within modern analogue and mixed-mode integrated circuit design supporting the continuously decreasing size, weight, and cost of all types of electronic circuitry and enabling an increase of applications and features in many different areas. You are expected to address several of the following research challenges:

  • low power analogue design
  • switched capacitor design for signal processing and/or power conversion
  • data converter design, including both Nyquist converters and oversampled converters
  • analogue design using high-voltage processes
  • mixed-mode design combining analogue and digital circuit functions in nanometer process technologies.

You will be heading the educational initiatives in the field and develop the existing courses and educational programs to support the needs of industrial partners working with analogue and mixed mode IC design. You are ready to explore and develop flexible and future-oriented teaching using new digital and online methods.

Also, you will be expected to attract national and international funding and lead large-scale international research projects. You are keen to further develop the collaboration with national and international research institutes and industries through collaborative projects and partnerships. Key responsibilities therefore include performing inspirational and motivational research leadership in general, but also be a rolemodel and take leadership in terms of strengthening of the profile and international visibility of the department.

You have a technical/scientific education at PhD level with international recognition within the research field. You can combine a high research level and publication activity with promotion of external cooperation and exploitation of research results in interaction with industry.

You have a scientific track record with international publications within at least two of the research areas listed above.

You have a solid knowledge about and experience with analysis and synthesis of all kinds of analogue and mixed-mode integrated circuits as well as with various packaging techniques.

You have an extensive research network, including active contacts to fabs and foundries.

You are experienced in supervising PhD students.

You are open-minded and teamwork-oriented in striving for common, ambitious goals.

You will be an integrated part of our Electronics Section, and we expect you to contribute actively to the internal collaboration with other sections at the department as well as with other departments.

You are expected to take a lead role in teaching at the BEng, BSc, MSc, and PhD levels. You will be expected to learn Danish and be able to teach in Danish after 3 years. DTU can provide Danish language courses.

Assessment
You will be assessed against the responsibilities and qualifications stated above and the following general criteria:

  • Documented experience and quality of teaching and curriculum development
  • Research impact and experience, funding track record, and research vision
  • International impact and experience
  • Societal impact
  • Innovativeness, including commercialization, and collaboration with industry
  • Leadership, collaboration, and interdisciplinary skills
  • Communication skills

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The salary for the position will be determined by the applicant’s qualifications and in agreement with the relevant union. Further information on qualification requirements and job content may be found in the Ministerial Order on Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities.
