Scholarships in Poland
Choosing to study or advance your research career in Poland places you within one of Europe’s fastest-growing economies and most dynamic educational landscapes. Located at the crossroads of Central and Eastern Europe, Poland offers a robust higher education system that blends centuries-old academic traditions with rapidly expanding, state-of-the-art research infrastructure. Securing a degree or an academic position in Poland delivers exceptional value, providing internationally recognized European Union qualifications, highly affordable living costs, and substantial state funding for global talent.
The fundamental value of obtaining a Polish credential or a research contract lies in the country’s extensive national funding initiatives and its highly lucrative, English-taught professional programs. Through the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA), the government administers major funding packages like the Banach Scholarship Programme and the Lukasiewicz Scholarship. These elite awards provide international students with full tuition waivers and generous monthly cash stipends to cover living expenses.
For doctoral candidates and postdoctoral researchers, Poland is a highly attractive destination due to its unique “Doctoral Schools” framework (Szkoły Doktorskie). Under this system, every admitted PhD candidate, regardless of nationality, receives a guaranteed, tax-free monthly state stipend, full social security benefits, and comprehensive healthcare.
Professionally, Polish universities maintain tight integration with the country’s massive aviation, manufacturing, and booming information technology sectors, which serve as the premier R&D outsourcing hub for global tech giants. Furthermore, non-EU graduates from full-time Polish university programs enjoy automatic, unrestricted access to the Polish labor market and a 9-month post-study visa window to establish a permanent European career.
