Job description
In this position you will work with Associate Professor Bob L. T. Sturm, Principal Investigator (PI) of the project, Music at the Frontiers of Artificial Creativity and Criticism (MUSAiC, ERC-2019-COG No. 864189, 2020-2025, https://musaiclab.wordpress.com)
The successful candidate will perform research in artificial intelligence and machine learning for three music practices (listening, composition and performance, analysis and criticism). More specifically, the candidate will contribute to two main topics:
- the development of music pedagogy for AI;
- the development of personalized music AI partners.
These activities will be informed by and inform the research of the rest of the MUSAiC team (which includes three PhD students and another postdoc). The postdoctoral candidate will also assist in organizing workshops, conferences, competitions and concerts focused on AI in music. The workload will be divided as follows: 90% of the time will be dedicated to research, 10% of the time for organization of the above-mentioned activities.

Qualifications
The candidate must have a strong background in machine learning or artificial intelligence. Musicianship is not essential, but desired. The successful applicant should have an outstanding research and publication record. Very good command of English orally and in writing is required to present and publish research results. The successful applicant must also have teaching abilities, collaborative abilities and be able to work independently. The successful applicant must have an awareness of diversity and equal treatment issues with a particular focus on gender equality.
