Postdoc in Developing Molecular Diagnostic Assays collaborating to develop next-generation pathogen detection platform

Nanomaterials and Nanobiosensors Group at DTU Health Tech invites applications for a postdoctoral position to develop molecular diagnostic assays for pathogen detection.

Background
Fast detection of multiple pathogens in one go is critical in many regards, ranging from infectious diseases to food safety. In this project (funded by Novo Nordisk Exploratory Interdisciplinary Synergy Program), we are collaborating with DTU Photonics and University of Copenhagen to develop next-generation pathogen detection platform for massively multiplexed screening.

Responsibilities and tasks
The main tasks include:

  • Design and characterize the nucleic acid-based probes and isothermal amplification technologies to capture the respective pathogens;
  • Integrate the bioassays into optical biosensing platforms;
  • Disseminate and communicate the results through journal and conference publications;
  • Coordinate with project partners; and assist in student supervision and funding application.

Qualifications
The candidate:

  • must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent) in molecular biology, bioengineering, analytical chemistry, or related disciplines
  • should have solid skills in molecular assay design, development, optimization, validation and implementation
  • should have good knowledge of high-throughput assay platforms, and point-of-care biosensing devices
  • should demonstrate evidence of self-driven and independent research capability, good problem-solving skills, excellent writing and communication skills, an interest in working in an interdisciplinary environment, and a strong motivation to succeed within the competitive research field
