Researcher Food Processing Technology contributes to the expansion of research portfolio in the field of sustainable, healthy and safe food

We are looking for:
An enthusiastic, enterprising and scientifically strong researcher Food Processing Technology who contributes to the expansion of our research portfolio in the field of sustainable, healthy and safe food and the process technologies required for this.

What are you going to do?
As a researcher Food Processing Technology you will be involved in, among other things:

  • setting up and performing experiments, together with colleagues, within multidisciplinary applied scientific research projects in the field of food process technology;
  • developing and summarizing research results together with colleagues into (partial) reports, publications and presentations for our clients;
  • conducting literature research to support the project work;
  • carrying out (simple) modeling activities in the field of process engineering.

Wageningen Food & Biobased Research, part of Wageningen University & Research, offers a challenging and market-oriented environment where motivated scientific professionals conduct research for companies, governmental organisations and knowledge institutes. The Food Technology group develops innovative knowledge and technologies that can be applied for the development of healthy, safe and sustainable products using fewer raw materials and energy. Examples include techniques for mild preservation (e.g., Pulsed Electric Fields, High Pressure Processing), advanced texturization (e.g., Shear Cell technology, 3D printing) or mild drying (e.g., microwave, radio-frequent, infrared) , always aimed at optimum product quality, maintenance of microbiological safety and enhanced sustainability. Your role is to apply scientific developments in the field in research projects, making use of the collaboration opportunities offered by the WUR ecosystem, the Wageningen Campus and our extensive knowledge and business network.

We ask

  • an ambitious and customer oriented researcher with good communication and technical skills, team spirit and problem solving capacities;
  • you have successfully completed an academic education (Master or PhD) in a relevant field, e.g. food processing or chemical technology;
  • you have subject knowledge of sustainable and safe food processing, preferably detailed knowledge of a specific technology (e.g. mild preservation, drying) and its relation with product properties, microbiology and shelf life;
  • you have a good oral and written command of the English language. Command of the Dutch language (or the willingness to achieve this) is a plus.

In addition to these first-rate employee benefits, you will of course receive a good salary. We offer, depending on your experience, a competitive gross salary of between € 2836,-. and € 4624,-. for a full-time working week of 36 hours, in accordance with the CLA Wageningen Research (scale 10).
