Fellow Paediatric AnaesthesiaNumber of hours: 40-48– Deadline: 15 August 2022
The Paediatric Anaesthesia Fellowship at Amalia Children’s Hospital in Nijmegen (The Netherlands) and at UZ Leuven (Belgium) is a twelve months education and training program in all aspects of paediatric anaesthesia. The clinical and didactic education curriculum includes paediatric pain management and perioperative anaesthetic care for neonates, infants, children and adolescents both in the operating room and in remote locations. Fellows work under staff supervision in the provision of anaesthetic care.
Fellows are expected to take an active role in educational activities, clinical and basic science research when appropriate. According to your level of training and experience, you will gain independence and responsibility for supervision of anaesthesia trainees in both departments.
Fellows need to demonstrate proficiency in perioperative management of patients, including appropriate preoperative assessment, investigations, technical and procedural skills, clinical judgement and decision-making and postoperative care.
Postdoc ‘AI/computational biology for cancer research on uveal melanoma’Number of hours: 36–Deadline: 1 July 2022
We are looking for a Postdoc ‘AI/computational biology for cancer research on uveal melanoma’. The aim of our project is to improve our mechanistic understanding of the immunological processes critical for response or underlying resistance to immunotherapy, to guide hypothesis-driven small clinical trials in the future. Will you join our team?
Uveal melanoma is a rare, highly aggressive cancer originating from melanocytes in the eye. There are no standard treatment options available for uveal melanoma. In particular, novel immunotherapy treatments that are effective in other types of cancer, including cutaneous (skin) melanoma, seem to work less well in uveal melanoma. This lack of response might be due to the immune-privileged status of the eye: immune cells are usually not able to enter the eye.
PhD candidate ‘Cerebral effects of psychological distress in Parkinson’s disease’Number of hours: 36–Deadline: 1 July 2022
As a PhD candidate, you will be embedded in the research group of Dr. Rick Helmich at the Donders Institute and the department of Neurology at the Radboudumc. You will also interact with Prof. Anne Speckens at the department of Psychiatry and the Centre for Mindfulness at the Radboudumc. We offer the exciting opportunity to work in a highly multidisciplinary field consisting of neurology, psychiatry, and neuroscience, at the world-class Donders institute. Will you join our team?
As a PhD candidate, you will study the cerebral mechanisms of psychological distress in patients with Parkinson’s disease (PD). The key aim of this project is to understand if a mindfulness-based intervention reduces neuropsychiatric clinical symptoms in PD (anxiety and depression). Furthermore, you will investigate how this intervention influences cerebral (MRI) and clinical indices of disease progression in PD.

Research technician Biochemistry | Molecular virologyNumber of hours: 36– Deadline: 1 July 2022
We are looking for a motivated research technician who is interested in fundamental research at the interface of biochemistry and molecular virology. Will you join our team?
Non-coding RNA fulfill various functions in living cells ranging from the regulation of transcription, splicing and protein synthesis. The recent discovery of membrane-associated, extracellular RNAs that are coated by sugar molecules (so-called glycoRNAs) suggests additional unexplored functions of non-coding RNAs and has opened an exciting research field at the border of RNA and glyco-biology.
In this project, we will use bio-orthogonal labeling of complex sugars (glycans) in order to specifically enrich glycoRNAs in primary immune cells isolated from human blood. We will closely collaborate with the research group of Dr. Christian Büll, expert in glyco-biochemistry at the Radboud University faculty of science. The aim of the project is to study glycoRNA expression in response to dengue virus infections and unravel their role in controlling communication of immune cells involved in antiviral immunity.
