Job Summary

The Research Scientist will independently plan, design, conduct and report on complex experimental research on low temperature plasmas in general and interactions of plasmas with electromagnetic signals in particular.
 

Required:

  • PhD in engineering or a related field
  • A minimum of three (3) years of post-PhD research experience in plasma science and engineering
  • Practical skills with plasmas and electronics such as oscilloscopes, probes, signal generators, pulse generators, and microwave diagnostics
  • Excellent oral and writing skills are required in communicating research results to sponsors and/or journal articles and conferences
  • Excellent analytical and experimental skills
  • Ability to organize and conduct complex research work that may involve multiple individuals at multiple levels
  • Ability to closely interact with external sponsors
  • Ability to actively contribute towards proposal development for government and industry sponsors
  • Highly motivated individual with the desire to conduct independent research work including raising funding and reporting results with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines, meet aggressive milestones
  • Ability to interact with a wide range of personalities and make correct decisions under pressure
     

Additional Information:

  • This position has a limited duration of three (3) years with a current expiration of August 24, 2024. Continuation is dependent upon additional grant funding. Benefits do apply
  • A background check will be required for employment in this position
  • FLSA: Exempt (Not Eligible For Overtime)
  • Retirement Eligibility: Defined Contributions immediately
