Job Summary

The Senior Research Associate will plan, conduct, execute, and report advanced research in the areas of micro and nanoelectronics. Contribute toward raising external funding and guide undergraduate/graduate students, as well as conduct independent research. Responsible for organizing laboratory work and experiments including assigning user responsibilities and independently developing and refining laboratory protocols for safe and effective operation. The position will also participate in course development for ECE 55700.
 

Required:

  • Master’s degree in electrical engineering or other related field
  • Two (2) years of experience in electrical engineering or related field
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered (for example, a Bachelor’s degree and four (4) years of relevant experience)
  • Knowledge of design & simulation: L-Edit, TCAD Sentaurus, COMSOL, MATLAB
  • Knowledge of micro and nanofabrication: oxidation, wet cleans, reactive ion etching, thin film deposition, lithography, packaging, heterogeneous integration, mask design
  • Knowledge of metrology: Profilometer, Reflectometer, Four-point Probe, Raman Spectroscopy, Semiconductor Parameter Analyzer, Semi-automated Probe Station, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM)
  • Knowledge or experience using software tools: JMP, Dektak, Heidelberg, SolidWorks, Oxford Tools, Excel, PowerPoint, Origin
  • Knowledge or experience with web design and maintenance: Virtual environment
  • Experience using embedded systems: C & C++, LabVIEW, Arduino, PCB Layout, Embedded Programming, Sensors Integration
  • Experimental Skills to include: Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Design, Soft Actuators, Characterization Setups, Design of Experiments
     

Preferred:

  • PhD in electrical engineering or related field
  • Education specializing in micro and nanofabrication of integrated electronic systems
  • Experience in industry or industry-scale research institutions and/or labs

  • This position has a limited duration of 18 months with continuation dependent upon additional funding. Benefits do apply.
