Job Description Summary:A position for a Research Assistant is available in Dr. Lee’s lab, Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Medicine, School of Medicine and Health Sciences, at the George Washington University. The Lee lab is focused on understanding molecular signaling networks for cancer metabolism, which further plays an important role in the development of novel therapeutics for breast cancer. The lab uses mammalian cells and mouse models with breast tumors to dissect metabolic regulation. 
 
This research support position contributes to research/development by assisting with experiments in a controlled laboratory setting. This includes performing cell cultures for cell and molecular biology experiments including cell culture, transfection, qRT-PCR, immunoblot, viability assays, and proliferation under PI’s direct supervision. Animal experiment techniques include handling breast tumor mouse models, orthotopic tumor injection, drug treatment, and monitoring animals. The core responsibilities of this position include assisting with data collection and administration of experimental procedures, and assisting with administrative aspects of preparing manuscripts for publication. This position may perform some lab maintenance duties as a secondary function. This role typically works under immediate supervision, and the primary job functions do not require exercising independent judgment.

Minimum Qualifications:Qualified candidates will hold a BA/BS in a related discipline. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position.
Additional Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications:
Preferred Qualifications:A Bachelor’s degree in Molecular or Cellular biology, Physiology, Cancer Biology is preferred. Previous working experiences with mammalian cells, mouse models, RNA isolation and RT-qPCR, western blotting, and cloning in the biology laboratory is preferred.
