Job Description Summary:The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular strives to the highest quality of professional education and training, and conduct cutting edge research in the areas of biochemistry, molecular genetics and genomics with a goal to better understand human disease. Additionally, the department continues to have a long and successful record in training undergraduate, master and graduate students at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences.
 
 There is an immediate opening for a Research Associate position in the laboratory of Dr. Rong Li to study the interactions between tumor cells and immune cells in a breast tumor microenvironment. The position independently carries out research/development activities by designing and conducting experiments in a controlled laboratory setting, under general guidance from the Principal Investigator. Using a certain degree of creativity and latitude, the core responsibilities of this position include making detailed observations, analyzing data, and interpreting results. This position compiles results and prepares technical reports and documentation of outcomes. This role is familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Working under general supervision, this position typically reports to a Principal Investigator.  Specific responsibilities include:

 – Handling laboratory mice, breeding, genotyping, colony management.
 – Conducting molecular biology-related experiments including DNA, RNA, and protein extraction and gel electrophoresis.
 – Performing cell culture-related work including cell passaging and basic phenotype analysis.
 – Assisting with lab organization including ordering, receiving and shelfing of lab reagents and common reagent preparation.

Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

 
Minimum Qualifications:Qualified candidates will hold a master’s degree and 1 year of experience in a related discipline. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position.
Additional Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications:
Preferred Qualifications:MS degree with basic chemistry and biology-related knowledge; prior lab experience such as animal handling is preferred but not essential
