Job Description Summary:GW’s Department of Microbiology, Immunology, and Tropical Medicine (MITM) conducts innovative, fundamental, basic and translational research for HIV/AIDS and neglected tropical diseases. MITM has a strong tradition of training and policy advocacy for these infectious and parasitic diseases, which initiate and perpetuate poverty and suffering worldwide. This experienced researcher designs, performs, and analyzes experiments in a controlled laboratory setting as per the funded proposal. Using a wide degree of creativity and latitude, the core responsibilities of this position are to make detailed observations, analyze data, and interpret results, with limited guidance from the Principal Investigator. This position compiles results and prepares technical reports and documentation of outcomes. This role is familiar with a variety of field concepts, practices, and procedures, including but not restricted to RNA sequencing and mammalian cell transformation. This position typically reports to a project supervisor or project manager and will provide guidance to junior level staff and students. Incumbent performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Minimum Qualifications:Qualified candidates will hold a master’s degree and 3 years of direct experience in a related discipline. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position

Preferred Qualifications:Experience working with mice.Extensive molecular and cell biology training.Experience in both independent and team research.Develop, design, and implement new experimental techniques. 
Typical Hiring Range$60,578.66 – $88,355.13
