The Division of Gynaecologic Oncology, Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at The University of British Columbia (UBC) invites applications for a full-time faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor (tenure track).

The UBC Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology has training programs at the undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate levels, and pursues research to make innovative advancements in knowledge and translate it to practice to improve health. The Department consists of more than 300 physicians and scientists as well as over 50 administrative, research, and technical staff. Specialty training programs are offered in gynaecologic oncology, maternal fetal medicine, reproductive endocrinology and infertility. Additionally, advanced training programs are offered in endometriosis, pelvic pain and advanced laparoscopic surgery, family planning, vulvovaginal health, and female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery. The Division of Gynaecologic Oncology provides gynaecologic cancer consultation services and treatment to the women of British Columbia. Leadership in cervical cancer screening, as well as diagnosis and treatment of pre-invasive gynecologic cancer is an important part of our mandate. Divisional activities occur at the Vancouver General Hospital and at the BC Cancer Agency.

Reporting through their Division Heads to the Head of the UBC Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, the successful candidate will be a surgeon-scientist in the area of gynaecologic oncology. The successful candidate will advance interdisciplinary gynecologic cancer research and accelerate the transfer of bench discoveries to bedside. Specifically, the incumbent will advance molecular-based classification and treatment by discovering and innovating new management strategies for the hardest-to-treat gynecologic cancers based on their biology. The new faculty member will be integrated within the multidisciplinary OVCARE team enabling innovative bench/translational research spanning genetics and ‘omics, cell and developmental biology, translational data science, biomedical engineering, artificial intelligence and imaging, population-based and health services, and health economics research. The successful candidate will ensure that research is relevant and clinically translatable to communities across British Columbia

The successful candidate will also have an integral role in establishing clinical trials priorities and management guidelines across BC as a key member of the Provincial Gynecologic Tumour Group at BC Cancer and Vancouver General Hospital (VGH). They will find a welcoming environment to partner with world class researchers and experienced clinical investigators under the umbrella of the BC’s Gynecological Cancer Initiative (GCI), a UBC Research Excellence Cluster and province-wide interdisciplinary research program with synergistic partner institutions.

The successful candidate will have certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) and be eligible for licensure to practice from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC (CPSBC).  They will have demonstrated evidence of ability in teaching and will be expected to participate in the teaching activities in the Department, as well as provide mentorship and training to undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate learners. The incumbent will also show demonstrated ability in scholarly activity and will be expected to provide service to the University and the broader academic and professional community.
