Assessment criteria
The assessment criteria for appointment as a professor are set out in Chapter 4, Section 3 of the Higher Education Ordinance and in the regulations concerning the appointment of teachers, ref. LS2010/771.

Generally speaking, a very high level of research and teaching expertise is required for appointment as a professor. To qualify for the position, the applicant must have supervised at least one doctoral student to degree level, as principal supervisor or supervisor. In assessing teaching expertise, teaching, supervision and examination at the Bachelor’s, Master’s and doctoral level as well as experience in the implementation, development and evaluation of courses and programmes will be taken into account. Experience in various types of academic leadership will be assessed.

Consideration will be given to how the applicant’s experience and skills are deemed to complement and strengthen ongoing research and teaching in economic geography and contribute to the future development of the Department in a broad sense. The research and teaching profiles of the Department are described on the Department’s website (www.keg.lu.se). The ability to work in an internationalised environment and to teach in English is a requirement. As teaching may be in both English and Swedish, non-Scandinavian language holders of the position are expected to eventually master the Swedish language. Furthermore, the position holder is expected to actively participate in the daily activities of the Department.
