The Auslander lab employs state-of-the art machine and deep learning techniques to complex biological data, to answer pressing research questions in biomedicine. The lab focuses on developing new methods to understand how microbes modulate immune responses in human diseases, with a focus on cancer. Candidates should have a PhD (or equivalent) degree or should be close to obtaining their doctoral degree. Applicants must have a strong background in one or more of the following disciplines: (1) Immunology, with some prior experience in computational biology (2) Molecular evolution, and in particular for microbial genomics (2) computer science training, with an interest in computational biology. We are seeking a highly productive academic and/or biopharma trained investigator with research interests in academic drug discovery, including the broad areas of chemical biology, medicinal chemistry, structure-based design, computational chemistry, and/or target identification. The ideal candidate will hold a PhD in synthetic organic chemistry and/or medicinal chemistry and have demonstrated, through peer-reviewed publications, the ability to design, synthesize, and utilize small molecule regents to probe interesting biological questions including the successful demonstration of the synthesis of novel small molecule probes to further the mechanistic understanding of biological processes. This may include experience in medicinal chemistry and the demonstrated ability to define structure activity relationships utilizing biochemical and cell-based assays to determine affinity, understanding physiochemical properties, and the ability to define selectivity for a chemical series.
