The Department of Biomedicine is a joint effort between the University of Basel and the University Hospitals Basel. The research group „Ocular Pharmacology and Physiology” at the Department of Biomedicine under guidance of PD Albert Neutzner is looking for a postdoctoral level scientist with interest in meninges and cerebrospinal fluid. The focus of our research is to understand the role of meningeal cells in clearing toxic metabolites from the cerebrospinal fluid and the brain. The position is initially for two years with the opportunity for extension. The starting date is February 2024.

Your position

  • Designing, planning and performing animal experimentation
  • Analysis of tissues using (immuno-)histochemistry
  • Generation and analysis of novel reporter mouse lines
  • Isolation of cells for single cell RNASeq analysis
  • Supervising/supporting Ph.D students

Your profile

  • Ph.D in life sciences
  • Hands-on experience with mouse as model organism
  • Knowledge of molecular biological techniques
  • Experience with intrathecal injection is a plus
